LAVENDER HILL
This residential renovation of the Lavender Hill House in Greensboro, Alabama was completed in my Advanced Historic Design studio and centered on transforming the property into a functional “forever home” for a couple in their 50s with two children currently in college. The primary objective was to enhance everyday livability while preserving the home’s historic architectural integrity so the space would continue to feel authentic to its original character. My design concept, Botanical, reflects this commitment to preservation—drawing inspiration from natural growth, layering, color palettes, and detailing throughout the home. Through a balance of thoughtful modern updates with the conservation of original elements, the home is kept timeless while supporting the family’s present and future needs.

KEEPING ROOM
This living area was designed for casual gatherings with family and friends, seamlessly flowing into the kitchen to create an inviting entertaining environment. A warm botanical-inspired palette of soft creams, layered neutrals, rich wood tones, and muted greens reinforces the concept of preservation while adding depth and comfort to the room. The original fireplace was intentionally retained as a historic focal point, while the windows were converted into French doors to encourage natural light and a continuous indoor–outdoor connection. By preserving key architectural details and introducing refined new elements, the space honors the home’s history while elevating everyday living.
